Kazi Noshin

I am an incoming PhD student at University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign (UIUC), USA. During my MS at University of Virginia, I worked with Prof. Aidong Zhang. Before starting my graduate studies, I worked as a lecturer in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at University of Asia Pacific, Bangladesh, and as a research assistant in the BUET-Japan Institute of Disaster Prevention and Urban Safety (BUET-JIDPUS), where I work under the supervision of Prof. Mohammed Eunus Ali.

I received a BSc in Computer Science and Engineering from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology. In my final year, I did my thesis in the area of Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) under the guidance of Associate Prof. Dr. Mohammad Saifur Rahman.

My primary area of research interest is human-computer interaction (HCI), especially areas that address human well-being and behavior, including ICTD, CSCW, human-AI interaction, social computing, human-centered ML design and ethics.

  • Building a simple automated online PD screening tool by modifying an existing web-based application that can capture audio and video data from participants to identify Parkinson's Disease (PD) in thousands of undiagnosed people in Bangladesh.
  • Providing patients the opportunity for frequent assessment/monitoring without having appointments with neurologists or requiring them to travel to a healthcare facility.
  • Contributing to the ongoing study by making a novel dataset from Bangladeshi community to improve the condition of the 10 million people worldwide who currently have Parkinson’s disease.
